On a recent visit to Highlands, NC my friends and I had a great time exploring local businesses and shopping on Main St. We each came away with unique finds and additional shops to explore when we are back again and I geeked out on the great interior design in so many of the places we visited. So, I thought it would be great to dedicate a post to sharing some of our favorite shops and pictures I captured of interesting design elements along the way.
Let’s just say – it was a good thing I drove so I could bring home my haul! If you didn’t know, Highlands – Cashiers, NC area has a great design community and therefore can be a delight for the design-obsessed like me. I hope you enjoy. As always, please leave additional suggestions in the comments so I can visit the next time I am in the area.

Shops we Enjoyed
- Dutchmans Designs: great shop on Main St focused on neutral design and home goods. They even have design services if you have or are buying a home in the area.
- Bardo: this design shop has a mission of helping people create spaces they LOVE and make you comfortable at home. Now, that is a statement I can get behind! They have so many great options for the mountain aesthetic
- Spartina449: we went nuts in this little boutique on Main St! It is so colorful and the ladies were so friendly. I scored a great oversized scarf of the South Carolina coast I am going to have framed for the vacation rental condo in Pawleys Island. I will def be going back for active wear once in the Low Country.
- Acorns Boutique: an Old Edwards Inn shop, this cute store has the best linens and bath essentials. They carry Frette which I constantly die for in the bedding offerings. These luxuries are so worth it when you crawl into bed every night to rest.
- Julep Farms: I already want to return to shop this little store some more! Julep has a great modern farmhouse aesthetic and a wonderful shop of curated goods to match. I brought home items like a brass cocktail shaker, a large vintage green glass centerpiece, linen spray, and more. Enjoy lunch and explore the farm while you are here.
There are so many more to explore so, drop a comment if you know of a great place I missed so we can add it to the list.
