It’s all happening friends! I have spent many years dreaming of Abroad + Abode and the various aspects she would be made up of – some ideas have stood the test of time and some I have let go in favor of others to become more focused and intentional about the brand I am building. A vacation rental (or two-ish) has always been there in my dreams and has also been a huge dream of Tom’s. Well, the income property part mostly for him :). I added the design + travel aspect.
I have shared bits and and pieces on my Instagram account @abroadandabode but today want to officially give you the inside scoop. Here are the important details:

- 2 bed, 2 bath condo located about 8 mins from the beach
How this all came about
We decided to move to Pawleys Island during the pandemic (more on that bit later), sold our house, packed up and went to stay with family in NC while we searched for a house. When we began looking, alongside our amazing realtor Julia Ryan, we found a crazy market with very little inventory and lots of folks moving in from out of state just like us. We ended up selecting a new build out of a short list of new builds. This was NOT what we had originally intended but, we got a great deal at a time when others were not so lucky.
The only problem was that left us with 10 months until we had a finished house! Not ideal. We quickly worked with Julia (and capitalized on Tom’s copious amounts of real estate + investment research) and determined it was potentially the perfect time to get an investment property. We had been talking and planning for this day for many years but it actually happened at a time when was unexpected.
Long story short – we pounced at the first condo that came available in our desired location and won in a bidding situation. Since May, we took on an interior refresh which is wrapping up in the next couple of weeks. We will then move in and continue to design + decorate and rent out to stylish vacationers once we move to the house.
The Condo
We haven’t finalized on a name but, I’m so excited to share the design and dreams we have for her with you! We envision golfers, small families, couples, and more spending time in the condo and experiencing everything Pawleys Island has to offer. We have fallen in love with this sleepy beach town on the coast of South Carolina and want you to experience it too – the Abroad + Abode way. My designs are a work in progress but I’m too excited to keep them a secret any longer.
